ASAHI's leading brand "Kaiho Shugi" offers revolutionary shoe design with a completely new theme of supporting walking by controlling weight shift. However, shoe manufacturing that realizes this function requires subtle work with skilled hands and control. For commercialization of products, steady improvement in each process, collaboration between processes, consistency and a desire for a common outcome of “manufacturing excellent shoes” are indispensable. We have a keen eye for detail in each small part, move quickly with our hands a problem should arise and make each one of our products through a collective passion.
“Made in Japan” by Asahi refers to the quality that we can deliver based on our responsibility and confidence.
Quality controlWe continue to use and refine a vulcanizing method that is rarely used in Japan. It is a manufacturing method of adding pressure and heat through vulcanization where temperatures can exceed 100°C after joining a rubber shoe sole and a sewn upper. This method has the advantage of improving the strength and elasticity of the rubber sole that enhances the integrated feel as a shoe that keeps its shape better and fits well with each foot. However, many processes require an advanced technique, so that today there are only a few plants that adopt such a method. We also adopt an injection molding method using a PU (polyurethane) injection molding machine. PU soles are extremely lightweight and highly flexible and offer excellent adhesive strength and waterproof performance, so they are suitable for high-end leather shoes and waterproof ladies shoes.
With the launch of the "Kaiho Shugi" brand that supports comfortable walking of senior generations, we have deepened our passion for offering advancements in shoemaking and developed a foot measuring instrument "Foot Grapher®" in collaboration with Kyushu University. This instrument automatically measures the size and shape of feet of each individual, and has measured more than 400,000 pairs of feet. This data is accumulated and used to develop and improve products.
